My partner and i have just got back from 2 weeks at the Anthoula Hotel and we will deffinately be going back! Anthoula was so helpful, there to greet us when we arrived (after a 15 hour delay!) and there to see us off! the facilities were great although we didnt use them much as the weather was so good (1st two weeks in September and the temperature was 35 to 40 degrees every day!)we were on the beach (Magic Beach just outside Kefalos) until half 6 every day! The hotel was spotlessly clean with fantastic views. we only used the minibus once as the walk back wasn't so bad(only 79 steps!!)Breakfast was basic but we got our own cereals instead and made sandwiches for the beach with the lovely fresh bread rolls (delivered at half 7 every morning!)The fridge in the room was great as it was full size with a door on the freezer section, unusual in Greece!, and there was also a hairdryer and adaptors. Best resturants were Hippocrates on the main road at the other end of the bay, Stop in and Syritaki more central and then a lovely resturant at the very furthest point of the harbour for real Greek food. A must is Quad or scooter hire to see the Island. Katerina was really helpfull for that and as she is Australian Greek there was no problem with the language. It is worth learning a little Greek too, though, as the effort is very much appreciated!

We stayed here Aug / Sept 2007 and loved it from the moment we got there.

We arrived at the hotel at 4am to be greeted by Anthoula the owner which was nice. The family is run by her and her 2 children all of which are very hospitable and friendly. We stayed there a week and had no problems at all.

The pool was gorgeous and relaxing, the food was simple but who wants lots of options or fuss in 90 degree weather?

Anthoula ran a mini-bus service into town 4-5 times a day every day which was helpful and the hill is a killer after a few bevvies!!!

Kefolas itself is beautiful with excellant water facilities during the day and plenty of restaurants and bars on an evening.

Hiring a four wheeled buggy for 40 euros is a must and much safer than scooters and quads, you can explore the whole island in a day which is excellant.

As a whole i would deffo go back, our room had air con for 5 euro a day, fitted wardrobes, tv, phone and shower curtain (very unusal for greece) we loved it and was sad to leave.

What can i say about the hotel! Absoultly beutiful, stunning views, The owners were very warm and welcoming and helped you out with any questions you had! Pool was great! It was so peacefull round the pool! It was great that they ran a bus down to the shops n bars because it was a hell of a hill to get up in the heat (but the steps did help to get up the hill easier). When you got down to the bars i would reckomend marias bar! two brothers run the bar (wel they looked like brothers lol) the have a little boat outside the bar sayin marias bar if your looking 4 it. Also if your in to your r n b music Players bar is a must. i would defently go back to the hotel as i enjoyed it that much. Great place to stay and hope to be back soon. Only moan if i hav one but this is bein very picky is the shower isnt the best and i alwayz had the bathroom flooded lol but like i say greta place to stay and i would reconmed to everyone. Sam xx

P.s GREAT VALUE FOR MONEY
and sad to be back home

Top place to stay, photo's on first choice website didn't do it justice!

We were expecting far worse,

The hill it's set on isn't half as bad as it was made out either, with steps goin down the worst part.

The family were all very welcoming, they provided a mini bus service free of charge to.

Lovely pool area, very clean throughout.

very good service, however if u are considering staying in thsi hotel i would not pay too much attention to the pictures as they do not justcie for the hotel as we were expecting a lot worse than what we got.  the owners are lovely and always there to help whatever the problem.  pool is gorgeous and very relaxing, the rooms were a perfect size for what we needed them to b used for. only downfall is the bathrom- but u wil get that wherever u go in greece! top notch hotel and wud recommend to ne1 staying!!!!

Set at the top of a hill the views are stunning.  The hotel is very clean and the family are very nice.  They made us feel very welcome.  However, as the hotel is so far away from the harbour the family run a courtesy bus which takes you down to the harbour only at set times of the day and will pick you up to bring you back again at set times only.  This is very welcome as it is a long walk down and back up in the heat otherwise.  The only drawback is that the last pick up is 10.30p.m. which is very early for those without smaller children and who want to stay out a little later and sample the night life, enjoy a few cocktails etc.

The hotel ois very clean and has air conditioning which is a godsend.  Although you do have to pay for it.

There is a pool which when we were there we had to ourselves as the hotel has just undergone a refurbishment and had only started taking guests again.  It is very peaceful and you feel like you have your own private villa.

Hotel Athinoula is a very nice family run hotel. The family are all friendly and make you feel right at home.

It's situated near the sea front and well within walking distance of the many supermarkets.

The hotel has it's own pool around the back, you can either go for a dip or relax in one of the sun loungers.

Overall a very enjoyable holdiay. Highly recommended to anyone, whether single or with children.

Set on a steep hill, yes, but the welcome you will recieve and the cleanliness of the hotel is second to none. The views from the hotel are stunning. the pool and Bar/restuarant are open throughout the day serving several Greek dishes as well as English snacks. Because of it's location the hotel caters for mostly adults. A typical day round the pool is peaceful, oh so peaceful, no loud blaring music, no shouting, just peace and quiet The family who run the hotel are lovely. They are Greek and really appreciate the effort of some Brits to learn at least a little Greek. I cannot believe anybody could say they have not enjoyed their stay at the Anthoula. We rate it full marks 10 out of 10.

Location was good - shame about the very noisy steep hairpin road running alongside. If you've got earplugs - you'll need them. The hotel is obviously treated as their home - guests are treated to a stony-faced welcome each day. Great if you like hearing noisy family discussions and loud Greek music as you relax!!
