Just returned from a last minute two week break at the Martisa Studios and currently working our way through My Travel complaints procedure! When we first arrived at the studios, our initial reaction was we wanted moved. Our feet stuck to the floor and generally the room did not feel as clean as it should be. However, after a trip to the supermarket and a few cleaning supplies later we decided to stay where we were as the room is really only a base. The first week was great, Kefalos is lovely and the people are really friendly. We hired a quad, tried out different places to eat, spent time at the pool and generally chilled out! One week into the holiday there was a power cut which lasted most of the day. As we had no cooking facilities, we headed out to explore the place a bit. When we came back later on in the afternoon, we discovered the power had returned, however our hob had been turned on and a pot left sitting on top had started to tarnish. My boyfriend went downstairs to let I did not feel safe/comfortable in the apartments. On 'cleaning' days she would just let herself in the room without knocking and start demanding money. I was worried about our belongings so we eventually lived out of the suitcase which we locked every time we left. Her mother, a lovely little woman, would not even look at us or acknowledge us if we said hello. We honestly felt like criminals, but to move would take at least half a day of our holiday, add further stress not to mention a cut of our spending money. Even at night if I was fussing over the cats on the driveway - she would stand at her front door and stare at me, deliberately making me uncomfortable. Now there were issues with the behaviour of other holiday makers when we were there-far worse than a rescued pot, however we were the ones victimised. I will never return to or recommend the Maritsa Studios to anyone. I can appreciate that people have had good experiences there from the previous postings, but I wouldn't want any other individual to be at the receiving end of the abuse we received from On a much lighter note - the cats are little darlings and I think I've seen a description of Minnie (black and white, extremely friendly, with a black patch on her front left leg) the proud mum of 3 kittens, Donald and Daisy -black and white twins - and Pluto, an adorable mainly white kitten with black patches over her eyes which give her this little innocent look! We also have Mickey, a big black and white Tom with bad congestion. I'd love to take both him and Nala to a vet, we know these are minor problems that could be fixed with some TLC. Nala is a tortoise shell and white cat with a sore eye and Mufasa, same colourings but female competition to Minnie! . Simba, a dark brown stripy small cat who loves being cuddled once he's become used to you, although you have to be careful if Minnie's around as she'll chase him away. Can you see a Disney theme here! They all adore milk and chicken! I wish I could have brought them all home - but I'm sure they will find another poor family staying at the Well peeps - I didn't mean to make this as long at it is! But if it helps people to make a better informed decision then my bleary eyes and now cold tea was worthwhile. Kefalos is great, not too quiet but not that busy either. Maritsa Studios are OK as a base, if you're like me buy some cleaning stuff when you are stocking up on your water. But if anything does happen to your room, please make sure you call the reps straight away before you see |

| answering my own question; yes, they do have safety deposit boxes - 20 euro for 2 weeks, 30 euro for 2 weeks for a fan. extremely well maintained studios, cleaned and linen changed every other day, plus washing up was usually done too! the cats are fine, 2 new black and white kittens, bit wary of people, but by the time i left they were following me around as i bought cat biscuits for them all every night! would reccomend these apartments, but they are a bit of a way from the main area of kefalos, the road can be a little noisy, but pretty good overall. | ||||||||||

Hi Nick
No I haven't been to Skiathos, I have been to Sidari in Corfu. I didn't like it very much I thought it was quite dirty. We had to walk up a dirt track with torches to reach our apartment everynight.
We went to Captain John's a couple of times too and enjoyed a lovely cheap meal. We didn't go to the Chinese as we heard a lot of bad reports on it was it nice? We tried to book Martisa for May next year, the travel agent couldn't find it anywhere. She states it may have been withdrawn. We did manage to book three three bedroom apartment at the manolis.Six of us are going this time there will only be two persons in each room. We got the extra bed for a £1.00 supplement. We could always use the extra bed to store our clothes with there being no drawers.
We didn't go on the horse and cart as my daughter felt so sorry for the horse having to go up and down that same road in the blistering heat.
We went into Kardamena for the day as my husband supports our local team, Hearts, No bars were showing the match in Kefalos as Chelsea was playing at the same time. The bar has to have access to Santanta to be able to show Scottish football abroad. Are you booking Skiathos for next years annual holiday? |

Couldn't agree more with you about Spain, not just Kos but Greece in general is much nicer. We only walked down to the harbour once and that was enough i got a blister on my toe!
, like your selves we stayed near the Maritsa end but we did go down to the Chinese restaurant and Captain John's a few timesThe rep Amanda was very good, if you had any queries or needed some help she always sorted it out, we travelled with Manos out of Manchester, it's the first time we have gone with them and didn't have any problems
It's good to hear the cats are ok, the black and white one used to come in to our room, it is hard not to give them any food but i like cats any way so it was nice. Did you have a go on the horse and cart ride, we were going to but only saw it with people in it, it would have made that long walk back a lot easier
We will definitely go back to Kefalos again but next year my girlfriend is wanting to go to Skiathos, have you been there before, we haven't so it will be a new experiance

Yes the cats are still there we made the mistake of giving them milk and ended up with three of them in our apatrment No 8. Kefalos was very quiet still, some of the restaurants had no-one in them. We like it quiet too. We walked to the harbour a few times where we met our rep Amanda at Sydneys bar watched a live band and Tubby Brown, he was crap, the band was good.We visited a few of the other bars at the harbour but preferred going to the ones nearer Martisa aparts. The walk back was a bit of a struggle after half a caraft of wine and a few Amstels. We flew from Glasgow with My Travel they were also excellent. I haven't stopped raving about my holiday since I got back. We will try to return next August as we loved it so much. I will never go back to mainland Spain after visiting Kos. I give the whole holiday 10/10.

So glad you had a good holiday like you say the apartments are basic but you have everything you need and Maritsa is always around to help with any queries
The people and all the different places to eat couldn't be better, we didn't go on the Greek night but that is something we can do next time. Sounds like the green bags are a good idea!
![]() Bambi next door is always very good for that late night drink and not having to walk too far back is a bonus. Did you see any of the cats, they looked clean and didn't cause any problems as most of the time they were a sleep
The weather sounds like it was hot but with that breeze it never feels too hot, we had a great time and will be going back as it's so easy to relax and forget about work!
Did you find the resort to be quiet or busy, when we were there in June it was fairly quiet which was nice for us as you never want places to be too packed with people, we will recommend Kefalos to our friends as it was one of the best holidays we have had.

We stayed at Martisa Studios for 2 weeks. We had a brilliant time, it was a five minute walk to the beach [which was normailly quite quiet]. The closest pool is a minute walk away, where you will find a family run bar where they serve snacks [very tasty]. The walk down to where all the taverna's and bars is about 10 minutes and about 20 minutes to the harbour. For a light snack or informal meal try riverside snack bar [next to the first cash point you will find] which is run by Chris. The studios are basic, you get a few pots and pans, kettle and a two ring hob. The beds are comfortable, would recommenrd hiring a fan as it gets quite hot a night [we paid 30 euro for 2 weeks]. Would also recommend getting a mosquito replent, you can get these spiral looking things if you burn them at night that kept them away! Also try Sebastians next to the harbour the muscles are so yummy!!We hired a car to expolre Kos town it was very busy but good for presents etc. If you get a chance try and go to Greek night in Zia, you will be able to watch the sunset which is amazing then you will be stuffed to the brim with Greek food and wine. Paradise beach is another good place to go to we went jet skiing and parsending which was so much fun! We would definatley go back, everybody was so friendly and kind!
