Archontia Studios - (Accommodation in Kefalos)

Danielle L

These apartments are fantastic. We were there for two weeks, came back two days ago and are desperate to go back!

The owners live in the apartments too, to keep an eye on things. The family are friendly, helpful and clearly have real pride in the place. I think most if not all of the rooms were full, but it was very tranquil and peaceful. Several times my boyfriend and I were the only ones by the pool, which was just wonderful.

The room was cleaned four times a week with fresh towels and linen each time. Ok, so there wasn't always hot water, but thats a Greek thing - it's all solar powered so if everyoe has a shower in the evening all the water gets used up and the sun is going down so it doesn't get reheated straight away. But the weather was so hot that a cold shower was lovely anyway!

The apartments have wonderful views from half the rooms of the bay itself whilst the others look out at the pool bar, pool and Kefalos village/castle. The sunset over the village was stunning.

It was a real community atmosphere while we were there, All the guests say hello and chat and loads of us went on Greek night together. The pool bar is lovely for socialising and chatting.

If you are looking for a relaxing holiday in a beautiful, tranquil place then Archontia are perfect for you. Best holiday I've ever had and I've been to a lot of places!!!
Would definitely recommend!

Kampos - (Restaurants in Kefalos)

Danielle L

Loved this restaurant. Beautiful views, gorgeous food and very reasonable prices. Heartily recommend the mousaka and the Tomato soup. The chickpea fritters were out of this world.

Fabulous, friendly service. Try out your Greek on the waiter, he'll be impressed and if you tell him you enjoyed the meal is is genuinely delighted!

Just beware that the house wine is quite potent!!! And they give all the men Ouzo and woen a Greek coffee liquor after your meal. That was what tipped me over the pleasantly full and tipsy to Oh-Mi-God-My-Belly-Is-Going-To-Explode!!!

Blue Horizon - (Restaurants in Kefalos)

We loved this place! Very good Greek food. Can recommend any of the starters - we went in one evening and ordered 7!! oh yes, that was a good evening!

Loving the souvlaki!

Stamatia - (Restaurants in Kefalos)

Excellent Greek plate in here. Grilled food. Wonderful. The most beautiful views. We went there for breakfast one morning and it was breathtaking!

Old Kefalos - (Places to Visit on Kos)

Danielle L

I was so excited when we found the old man in the bakery everyone on here had talked about!!!

We walked up from the Archontia studios. If you are relatively fit and go up before the midday heat it's hardly any effort at all. The views are superb, we took some lovely photographs and had a stroll around the village.

We went up again a week later when we had the hire car and had ice cream and peach juice. Yum. We found a beautiful church and saw the Greek women sitting on the doorsteps making lace and the old men playing with worry beads. So traditional. I loved it. Don't miss it if you are staying in the area.

Fiat Seicento - (Hire Cars on Kos)

Greek Night - (Kos Excursions)

Danielle L

Excellent evening!!

Don't know how large the appetites are of the people who've said there wasn't enough food. We were absolutely stuffed. We were sharing between 4, but there was lots left over on every table we saw!!! Wine (red and white) and fruit juice and water was unlimited. The entertainment was fantastic and the sunset in Zia was gorgeous!
Only thing that let it down was the people smoking - why can't people be more considerate? All that fresh mountain air and they pollute it with fag smoke.

Trip to Bubble Beach - (Kos Excursions)

Danielle L

Well, I am not a very good swimmer so I wouldn't have been able to see the bubbles, as they were quite far out the day we were there. However, as it turned out we happened to have gone from Kefalos on the glass bottomed boat, so we saw the ruins under the sea, the fish and all the bubbles. Was good.

The actual beach itself was ok, busy and the beachside snack bar was loud, and too British!!!

Trip to Nysiros Volcano - (Kos Excursions)

Danielle L

Just like A Walker (see below) we did the guided tour with Libra holidays and Mike was our guide too. Was amazing. Mike was attentive, very informative, helpful, organised, pleasant and the island itself was beautiful. Very interesting place. Just make sure you wear good shoes, you can't go in the crater in flip-flops, they'll melt. Unforgetable.
