Just come back from a weeks holiday at Sandy's Apartments in Kos Town! I don't know what some of these people are talking about it was a lovely place! The staff were friendly, helpful, the apartments were very clean. It was nice being a little way from the town it was a lot quieter! Would definately visit again!!

Caroline B

Bar Street is the place to go for blokes and clubbing. Enjoyed the Heart Rock where they have a small dance floor and you can even dance on the bar for drinks.

Will be going back on 19th June.

Hope you all have a great time!

Anne L

It was too noisy, the Greeks have taken over with motor scooters which they have taken the baffles off to make them really noisy, they even do 'wheeleys' they are continuously going around the resort making it the people on the front are eating their meals in exhaust fumes

Jacci W

had a brilliant time last year with all those friendly locals, going back this year stayed in the atlantis hotel and apartments would reccommend it, the amazon 2 is an excellent place to go great food and drinks with great staff a bit of greek dancing on request and even a disco at the end of the night. road between hotel and kos town is full of bars tavernas and shops excellent for all ages cannot fault the place just too many good places to go to not enough holiday hence the re visit this year.

Caroline B

Stayed 2 weeks last year in June at the Ioanna Studios. Fantastic place - quiet but clean. Shared pool at Anna Studios which is run by a great family who are very friendly and helpful (great Greek Nite!). Have stayed in touch with son, Bill via email.

We hired bicycles for the 2 weeks as Ioanna is about 20 to 25 mins walk from town centre. Great for the evenings too (saved on taxi fares) just make sure you have a light on your bike).

Ioanna is a great location as it's away from the busy night life noise. Great if you don't mind walking or cycling.

Will be visiting again this June. If anyone wants any more info will check for comments.

Friendly people, good food, but try the tavernas on the side streets such as mammas cooking on averof st at the other side of the harbour from the castle, there is another one called mummys cooking, not sure of the street but it is off the dolphin fountain roundabout, just ask you will find it and don,t be put off by the basic furniture these are where the Greeks go to eat, a tip for you before you order check out the toilets, the two mentioned also have their kitchens visible so you can see just how clean they are, and the prices are far lower than the ones on the front, with good traditional Greek food and if you prefare you may be able to get English, another tip be careful just what you order as the portions are more than you would expect, try stiffado really nice, and at the end of your meal you will be given a free drink or two or three, we have been going twice a year for the last 11 yrs never been let down, Just go enjoy choose your accom carefuly, want to know more just ask on this page will be checking it out again in a couple of weeks

Hazel P

It was very busy, full of every culture possible , dutch, swedish, swiss, german, italian, etc etc etc etc. There was one small beach that was a yucky colour and so packed full of sun beds you could hardly move. Although from what i saw, there was alot of water sports there, and bars, so one for the youngsters i think. I couldnt wait to get back to Kefelos, much quieter with much nicer beaches and tavernas. I guess some people might like this place though.

Cheryl P

me and my boyfriend are going to kos town on the 8th may, we staying at the Iris Apartments, anyone know what they are like! Also we want to hire out some sort of transport i am a bit wary of mopeds!! and wondered if anywhere in kos town hire out Quad bikes as i prefer them! also any good places to visit i.e clubs, good sandy beaches, romantic restuarants where we can watch sunset etc
Please help!

Lucy H

please can people tell me some good self catering apartments in kos town or apartments that are a maximum of 20 minutes walk away from the town? thanks

John P

for angie hewitt..........kallys apartments are on megaloy alexandrou street, about 5 mins. walk from the harbour (dolphin square). It is a very nice place to stay, can be a bit noisy from traffic at times, as it is one of the main routes out of town. It has one of the best restaurants on the island, the owner, Costas is a top chef (has also cooked for Onassis!), and having been there many times over the years, can say it is my favourite place to eat. (you'll find most of the tour reps eat there too!)
There are only about 8 apartments in the building, I prefer to have one at the back of the building, as the traffic noise late at night can be a nuisance, but you get that everywhere I suppose?
Should you go there before you read this, please say hello to Kally and the boys, tell them what you have read, and say hello from john and Christine and little Michael, from Wales.
Good luck.and watch out for Tony Ainsworth.......read his comments also, lots of info there!

Kos has a fair bit going on but not too much. So you can grab a bit of peace and quiet or enjoy some of the nightlife. However, its definately not as nice as Rhodes Town on the island of Rhodes. I was a bit disapointed actually as i had heard they were similar. Sadly Kos Town has been overpopulated by tourists so it can sometimes feel a bit like Blackpool. However, for a cheap last minute deal for a family then its worth it and there are some prettier aspects to it as well, you just have to search them out.

Re Tigaki

Wind surfing, go karting, horse riding all actually in Tigaki and then the capital Kos town is only 20 mins drive away. Good local bus service too. In addition to beaches, bars there's a bowling alley, indoor and outdoor cinema, numerous shops, daily boat trips to other islands

Emma T

RE girl who wants address for shenanigans. I can't remember the name of the street but Boomerang (the restaurant adjoining the back of Shenanigans) is on Mandilara Street. You could send it care of there instead as they're owned by same ppl I think.

Just wondered if anyone has any information on Kally's appartments in Kos town. I believe they are above the Broadway restaurant/cafe.

Hester H

I have been to Kos island twice now and although I'm only 17 I think I'll be going there forever- I've been on many holidays and never found the need to go back but there's something about Kos that draws everybody to it! It's magnificent and beautiful!! I met loads of people bothe Greek and tourists they were all lovely and made me feel welcome!

Does anybody know where I can get details for jobs in Kos town or kefalos?? As I want to work there for the summer until I go to University. Any help would be great!!

Please email the addresses to hester49@hotmail.com.

ATMs in kos town,
Hope this isn't too late for your holiday..... I was in Kos Town the first week in June this year and there was no problem at all at withdrawing money from ATM machines. There are many of them around the town

Margaret E

I have just booked to go to Kos Town and I am wondering about the situation regarding ATM's, having just returned from Kefalonia where they only tend to be in the larger resorts

Estelle O

Kos was such a lovely place I had a great time I stayed in the palm beach hotel which was very nice the food was excellent the staff were very friendley the hotel was very clean and had a lovely big pool if you are going to stay on kos town I would recommend this hotel.
I was in walking distance of the town center which has lovely shops clubs and resturants it was my first time in Kos and I will be going back next year.

Linda R

Returned from Psalidi, Kos (quiet end of Kos) end of June. Had a wonderful time. The island is small enough to get round most of it by car. Kos town is flat enough to cycle round even for oldies like us (50s age group. Really enjoyed meals at Armonia Restaurant, 52 Amerikas Street Kos. Andreas will make you very welcome. Only have his Greek plate if you have a very big appetite! His apple pie is to die for.

Jamie

We stayed in the Lydia Apartments with Airtours. The apartments are very basic but the people who run the place arw fantastic. Mary is one you have to watch out for!! She is a great laugh!!!! We got back on the 19 June 2003. You are a bit out of the way of the main town, but I have been further out. Taxis dont hardly cost anything. I also recomment the Blue Brothers Bar near the harbour. Was fab in there!! Also ask where "Shala Thai" is. A lovely thai restaurant!! Ask for Mike. U will love the food there!!

Andy D

Take time out to spend a day in Kos town - you won't be disappointed.

i love kos

Rachael A

where can i get married in Kos Town
between 18/6/03 and 2/7/03

Tony A

I like KOS TOWN because it is a good base with plenty going on. Although it is the Capital it is not too large and it has a very nice harbour and you can take the boats to Turkey or one of the many Islands including Rhodes. The shopping is good and the prices are very reasonable. The restaurants and bars around the harbour tend to charge a bit more than the ones in the side streets, so if it is value for money make your way to THE CARAVAN RESTAURANT and ask for HASSAN.

SAILING BOAT KATERINA
KOS TOWN HARBOUR (Half way round opposite the Flamingo Bar)

This is a good trip, for approx. €20.00. euros you can visit 3 other Islands and it INCLUDES lunch in a very nice greek taverna in Kalymnos. The restarant is run and owned by Yiannis who is a laugh a minute. The trip departs at 10.00.am and returns at 6.00.pm. What value approx. £13.00. The owner and captain is George, and his wife is Katerina. They have 2 children, Sylvia and Kostas, so it is a family day out. You can just relax all day and enjoy it. Make sure that you take your camera, a towel and your swimwear, maybe a sweater as well.

TURKEY FOR THE DAY. M/V THERMISTOKLES.
KOS TOWN HARBOUR (Half way round opposite the Flamingo Bar)

If you are thinking of going to Turkey for the day, take my tip and arrange it yourself. Walk to the Harbour in Kos Town and book direct with the boat, this year the tour operators are charging ?49.00. Euros, and you can do it for €20/25 if you book direct with the boat, and it is exactly what you get as if you went through your tour operator, plus you get a FREE bus tour of Bodrum and Gumbet thrown in.

BAR STREET AND HARBOUR AREA.

The harbour is very pretty at night with all the lights on the boats etc. A tip, but be careful when you visit the bars you pay a lot more for your drinks and you sometimes get 330ml bottles instead of 500ml ones which are sold in most other restarants and bars.

OTHER THINGS TO DO IN KOS.

Take a trip on the little 'Noddy' Train, the GREEN one goes around the town, and the BLUE one goes up to the ASKLIPIEIO. Make sure that you sit facing the way you go as the guide says on your LEFT you have ??????, but if you are sitting with your back to the train it is confusing - you have been warned.

EMPROS THERMA.

Get yourself a Jeep and explore, try the EMPROS THERMAS, you are actually in the sea and the temprature is about 70 degrees, it is just like having a hot bath. It is volcanic and they say it is very good for ALL skin complaints and joints. You can also take the local bus from the harbour.

ZIA.

A village in the mountains, best to visit in the evening to see the sunset which also looks out over Turkey.

OTHER.

Just enjoy yourself, go off the beaten track, you never know what you might find. Don't worry you can't get lost, there is only one main road which goes from one end of the Island to the other. That is all for now, bye and have a good holiday.

Tony A

I have been going to Kos for 2 or 3 times a year for about 8 years and I always find something new. I prefer Kos Town as I love the harbour and the boats. It is very easy to organise trips and you can catch the local bus to various parts of the Island.

There a lots of restaurants in Kos Town which include Typical Greek, International, Indian, Chinese, mexican and many more. But if you have read my other reports you will know that my favourite is The Caravan in Amerikis Street. Make sure that you take a trip on the little 'Noddy' trains. The Green one goes around the town and the blue one goes up to the Asklepieion.

There are many Bars, Nightclubs etc. to suit ALL tasts. Have a great holiday.

Hello to everyone who visited the HEART-ROCK in 2002. The night life is quality and you will always pull. love-it.

Laura K

FIRST TIME THERE AND WE LOVED IT. WEATHER WAS GREAT, BEACHES WERE REALLY CLEAN AND NIGHTLIFE WAS FAB. THE LOCALS WERE REALLY FRIENDLY AND THE SOPPING WAS SOOO CHEAP. LOVED IT!!! AND CAN'T WAIT TO GO BACK.

Ralph F

Ruth and I have been to Kos town 8 times now and allways find something new to see, from there you can visit other islands such as the volcanic island of Nysiros or the sponge divers island of Kalyminos, there are small unspoiled villages in the hills and the people are very friendly Are we going again, you bet

Robert J

We loved and are going back next year.

Carla n stephanie C
