Luis - (Accommodation in Mastihari)

Just returned 29/5/03. The Luis now has a 2nd building completed this year. The pool was already built, but the owner only filled it up with water ready for the Bank Holiday. Can confirm the pool is very nice. The bar area was being worked on when we were there. The owner is still fitting the kitchen area for serving snacks i think. It may be ready by the summer! Just a note the pull cords in the bathroom are there for emergency if someone is taken ill. They were pulled several times during our stay by people in error the alarm was annoying. not too far to any of tavernas or bars only a 10 min walk.

The one bed apts in Luis 1 were spacious the bedroom has 2 twin beds, the other 2 beds are in the same are as the kitchen which was the same size . The pool has sunbeds, with lovely padded cushions. When we were there at the end of May they were waiting for the umbrellas to come from Athens. Don't know if they have arrived yet. There aren't any cash machines in Mastihari. There are quite a few in Kos town

Trip to Nysiros Volcano - (Kos Excursions)

The boat trip was an hour from Kardamena. The coach trip was about 15/20 mins i think. It certainly is worth going to see the crater and the island is so quiet and relaxing the total opposite to Kalymnos main town.

The sulphur smell is very strong. It is possible to walk on the crater although not recommended for people who have heart complaints etc including asthma. We went with airtours The whole trip was without any pressure to do anything or go anywhere. The trip to them monastery in Mandraki is worth it for the views, as well as seing round the village.

Having read comments made by other people i expected the whole journey to be very scary, but it was only the same as roads on any other mountainous island
