Sunny Days Aparthotel - (Accommodation in Tingaki)

M L

Sunny Days Apartments and studios. 4-11 September 2004
We arrived 12.30am Sunday morning. Room A14, 3rd floor, facing trees but also could see the pool area.

Airport---- Small but ok, We quickly received our cases. 1 hour from landing we were in our studio. No problem with return flight.

Hotel----- Sunny Days hotel may be on a main road, but there was not a lot of traffic. There were 2 Apartments above the reception area, over looking the road. All other apartments looked out over a small side road, the pool area or some trees.

Reception---- The reception was quite big for a greek hotel. This was because there was also a bar and 2 big screen TV's. The bar/reception stays open until about 3am on a Saturday night. We think this may be due to a lot of flights arriving and leaving early hours of Sunday morning. On all other nights the bar/reception stays open as long as there was someone there (mostly between 12-2am).

Internet---- About 6 internet PC's, 30 minutes for 2 euro's. Ok if you want to keep in touch with people back home. Not the fastest PC's I have been on, but who want's to use them for a long time when the sun is shining outside.

Rooms----Our room was very hot when we arrived, We do recommend you get air-conditioning. We had a double bed and 1 single bed. The kitchen area was basic (But what greek hotel is not), It does have a kettle. As we only ever used the fridge this was not a problem for us. The only complaints we had about the room was 1) The towels--They were very very rough and only changed on a Monday and Thursday. 2) Linen changed only on a Wednesday. 3) There were only 2 plug sockets in the room, which were not in the best place. WARNING----- THE SHOWER. There was only a small hole in the floor to drain water away. The water comes out the shower faster than the water drains away. On the first night, we (or should I say I) flooded the bathroom and half the studio.

Air conditioning---- 50 Euros for 1 week and 100 Euro for 2 weeks in a studio. 70 Euros for 1 week and 130 Euros for 2 weeks in a apartment. The air-conditioning was very good, We left it on all day and night. We did need to turn it off a few times at night or use a blanket.

Safety boxes ----- 15 Euros for 1 week and 25 Euros for 2 weeks. This was operated with a key.

Fans------- 15 Euros for 1 week and 30 Euros for 2 weeks.

To keep room after check out----- Check out 12pm. 15 Euro's to keep the room until 7pm, 30 Euro's until 10pm. You maybe asked to move your things to another room.

Pool area------ The pool area was nice. It has a good size pool with a wooden bridge across the middle. There was also a shallow children's pool. The sun beds were also wooden with flowered mattresses. 3 Complaints about the pool area--- 1) The water was very very cold. 2) The sun did not shine on the pool area all day. We had to keep moving beds. As the hotel was not full this was not a problem. If the hotel had been full we would not have been able to have the sun all day. I like to have a bed which you just have to turn around a little as the sun moves. 3) The greek lady that served food and drink played loud greek music all day. If you like peace and quiet this is not the pool area for you. There were 2 other pool's nearby. One was at the Sunset, which was about 3 minutes walk. This was a bigger and more open area but again they do play loud music (English). The other one was at hotel next door called Aspro Spiti. This was a nice area which gets the sun all day and was very quiet. The hotel is owed by a greek family who were very friendly. We spent most of our days at the Aspro Spiti.

Restaurants------ The 7 restaurants we ate at.1) Grand salle--- Nice food and wine. A little expensive compared to other restaurants. 2) Rodini----- If you like good greek food at cheap prices this is the place to go. Warning------ if you order the greek plate special for 2 do not order anything extra. This meal would feed 3-4 people. The wine is not that nice, but is included in the price with the food. 3)Spyros---- Good food, but most things served with chips. 4) Meni---- Very nice setting. We had a bad time. It was 1 hour 15 minutes after ordering before we received our food. 5) Unsure of the name, but it has 3 dancing men on the sign. Very Very good food and wine. Very greek. 6) Tingaki grill----large menu, to much to choose from. Good food and wine. Sagittarius---- Small menu, but very good food. Large greek salad. They also do curry, which looked and smelt very nice, but we did not try.

Tingaki-------- If you like somewhere to be both Greek and English this is the place for you. There was one main road where all the restaurants and pubs were. The restaurants do Greek and English food for Adults and children. There were a lot of English type pubs serving happy hour cocktails. If you like the Greek atmosphere you can also have a drink in a restaurant. There was 1 big supermarket, which was next door to the Aspro Spiti hotel, there were a few smaller mini markets which were more expensive than the big supermarket.

The Question everyone asks-- Would we recommend it???????????????????? It was not what we were looking for. We wanted a smaller, quieter and more greek place. But yes we would recommend Tingaki and Sunny Days Apartments.
