The best trip in Kardamena is on the boat Aerlos with Vasilis and yurgos (sp) They make you feel really welcome and the food is lovely. The whole trip is great for sunbathing and relaxing. I'm there beginning of June and can't wait  The sunset cruise is great too, especially the cocktail you get as part of the cruise.!!   Just love Kardamena

THE KATERINA SAILING BOAT

KOS TOWN HARBOUR

We went to Kos for the 1st time in July and we looked on the Internet before we went for some ideas from Tony Ainsworth.
We were staying in Kos Town and found the information on Tony's web site very useful.
One of our best days out was on The Katerina Sailing Boat and George the captain and his wife, really looked afer us. We had a great relaxing day, and would have no hesitation in recommending the Katerina to anyone.
Best Regards to Kos  -  Dave Sawyer.

Nicki G

This was for me one of the highlights of the holiday - a day on a boat to sit back, sunbathe and just relax! We booked it through our tour operator - First Choice.

The 3 stops are great for a bit of swimming in the clear blue sea and you can see some of the marine life as well if you can get hold of some of the snorkling equipment on board the boat.

You get a bbq at the first stop which consists of salad, Soulvaki and bread - very nice!

Remember to take suncream, plenty of water and of course your camera and you won't go far wrong with this one!

We went with the Katerina last tuesday. As has been said previously, forget the rest and sail on the Katerina with George and his family. My wife does not normally do "boats" but she plucked up the courage to go, even though it was a choppy day. She also doesnt normally do putting her face underwater but i managed to coax her into trying snorkelling at Platti. we had to buy a mask and snorkel later in the week as she enjoyed it so much!

We had an absolutely fantastic day out at an amazing price of 20 euros each. George was fantastic and we highly recommend sailing with him.

Elisabeth H

We went with the boat Santa Maria, the crew were really friendly and the barbicue went down a treat. We went with Theokritos Travel. Our first Island hop was Plati for a spot of swimming off the side of the boat, which the good swimmers all enjoyed, then we went to the next island Kalymnos, to the Port of Vathi, simply stunning little port, went to the famous sponge shop and did a little shopping, we had an hour in this little port, then on to our last island Pserimnos, to a fantastic sandy beach called Sunny Bay, while I sampled the Nescafe in the local taverna hubby and youngest son had a great time swimming in the sea, but be wary as the sea was full of purple jelly fish and yes they will sting. Elder son spent his time digging in the golden sand. All in all we had a fantastic day and it was well worth the money.

I was on Kos this Summer and I did the trip with ODSSEY boat. It was fantastic. The boat is big, confortable and beautiful, crew very nice, captain Yannis and 2 sailors great. The first stop was  a beautifull bay on Kalymnos island, the color of the water was amazing overthere. After that we stop on another island, we did BBQ, the food was excellent and on the way back snakes were served with ouzo. Last stop was on Pserimos island in a nice village. We had great time, BELLISSIMO!!! we dance and relax and really enyoy the trip. Thanx to Yannis and his crew!!

C J

Booked to go on the Poseidon, but ended up going on the Nikita as there weren't enough bookings. We actually ended up going to four islands as the Captain had just had a baby so he wanted to light a candle on this quaint little island with a really pretty church. It was absolutely gorgeous. Lunch time was lovely when we were served perfectly cooked Soulvaki with Tzaki and Greek salad with some baguette. The day was fantastic value for money at only 25 Euros and all the islands we stopped at were very picturesque.

had a fantastic day out on the KATRINA I agree with everything that Tony says about the trip. George made the day really special and as the ship was not packed to the gills like all the other ships there was plenty of room to laze about and get the best of the day. On the trip back to port there was a real friendly atmosphere and george involved everyone in the sailing of the ship, from raising the sails to steering the ship along the coastline. wine and ouzo flowed along with large slices of melon. We even had a raffle with prizes. It was not in your face or over the top just nice and easy going with a laid back feel. go with george on the Katrina for a comfortable great day out. All the other ships had at least 50-100 people on board, we had 20 fantastic!!!!!

Once again when I visited Kos I went out on the 3 Island trip with the sailing boat  'KATERINA'  and I had a great time. It was not very busy and I think that Kos is having a hard time this summer.

After about 6.00.pm in the evening and before 9.30.am the morning KATERINA is situated about halfway along the Harbour in KOS TOWN opposite the FLAMINGO BAR. It does the 3 Island Tour in the daytime from about 10.00.am until 6.00.pm. I can't tell you the exact price as it varies year to year but it is about €20/25. Euros or £15/17 for adults, children are less and it includes the trip plus lunch and a few small snacks on board.
The KATERINA is a family run boat, There is GEORGE, the Captain and his wife KATERINA,(Hence the name of the Boat). They are very friendly and nice people and will do their very best to ensure that you enjoy yourselves. Over the years they have become very good friends of mine and I would recommend this boat .

It leaves The Harbour in KOS TOWN at about 10.00.am and the first stop is a small Island named PSERIMOS where it stays for about 1 hour, it has a very sandy beach and is ideal for children. The next stop is KALYMNOS, known as the sponge Island. After arrival in Kalymnos they take you to the sponge factory where they give you a brief talk about sponges and then you have time to purchase some if you want to, there is NO pressure to do so but the sponges are very good. ( This tour lasts about 15.minutes ) then it is off to a local taverna for lunch, you get a small greek salad, a main course (Choice of 5 dishes)The lunch is included in the ticket price, but you pay for any drinks which you have.
After lunch you get about 45 mins to look around the Port of PORTHIA and then back to the boat and the next stop is PLATTI where the KATERINA drops anchor and you can go snorkeling or swimming. Back on the boat for a refreshing piece of melon or apple. Then it is up with the sails and back to KOS town. If you are very lucky you may even see the Dolphins, about a 5/10% chance.

There is plenty of room to sunbathe on the sunbeds on the boat, and they have a bar which sells drinks at very reasonable prices. It is a GOOD trip and many people go more than once, so do go EARLY in your holiday.
I am going again in a few days.

Does anybody know the boat calles Sevimarl, and the crew????

Miag G

Last week we went out on the POSEIDON and APHRODITE (look out for the distinctive royal blue name plate on the gangways).   Both trips were barbeque with time in the "Blue Lagoon" near Pserimos, a stop at Pserimos island itself (my favourite beach ever), and a final swimming/snorkelling stop near Plati.

On the APHRODITE trip last Friday the Captain Mihalis did an excellent job of keeping the boat upright even though the weather was really windy.   The boat was not full and we had an excellent day with dancing and singing on the way back to Kos.  The APHRODITE's crew joined in and made us all feel very welcome.

Every year the trip just gets better and better.

Christy W

Hello everyone,

Does anybody know the boat called Sevimarl?
And the people work on that boat?

Julie P

My friends and I recently enjoyed a very 3 island trip on the Katerina.  Captain George and his family are excellent hosts and I thoroughly recommend this trip.

Fi

The trip we went on was a 2 island trip and a little more expensive than other trips. We went on the Archangel Michael sailing boat. There were only 20 ish of us, so there was plenty of room to spread out and everyone on board was very friendly. The crossing to the first island (Kalymnos) was so rough, I was soaked when we got there as I had been lying on the sunbeds. I soon dried out when we arrived at the secluded bay, though, which the owners of the boat sort of own. We had a bbq which was delicious and filled me up! We went swimming in the waters and snorkels are available to see the sponges underwater.

We then sailed to Pserimos and stopped in the pretty harbour/beach/town area. After an hour, we got on board for some fruit salad and the crossing home.
I would definitely recommend this trip, it is very relaxing and on the way back the crew put up the sails, turned of the engine and sailed us home. That was actually pretty scary as the boat was lurching all over the place, but a great experience none the less!

Dawn P

After reading about the Katarina on this website we arrived in Kos harbour searching for George.  Luckily for us on our second trip to the harbour the boat was in berth.Their were five in our party Chris,Dawn,Lily and Adam together with his girlfriend Emma.  We all agreed that the trip was wonderful, full of fun ,lovely company, entertaining and George and his wife made the whole day really

special. The recommendations from this web site were all true and if you're going to Kos say "hello" to George from Lily and her family.

Emmi R

Lovely been on it 3 times and will being defo going on it again!!!

Sharon V

Maybe I'll have to try that next time I'm in Kos.  ;)   Although I've only ever been with the POSEIDON or ARGO and I think those days out would be hard to beat!

Louise H

What a great day out, Captain was brilliant and it was a great fun day, lunch was very good, and the little touches that the captain laid on was well worth the money, I would recommend this boat trip to anyone as it seemed we were the only people that were dancing and singing on board.

Great day especially liked the beach @ pserimos, I of course I had to buy some oregano and something else that i haven't had named yet!!Lunch was not up to much though! We booked with tigaki express but can't remember the boat name!

Julie M

After reading great reviews here, we went on the Katerina and were not disappointed. It was a great day and well thought out by George the owner and his family. To give details on it would spoil it by giving too much away. There were only 12 people on it the day we went and it was great fun. More than worth the money, in my opinion and I would go back on it again if I returned to Kos.

Mandy J

after doing this kind of trip 3 years ago and reading all the reviews on the katerina ,this was where we went for our trip. apart from the amount of money that we saved by not booking through tour operators what a great day out.

Steve C

We made a mad dash for the harbour on Sep 12th 2004, after a motorbike ride up from Kefalos. Didn't have a lot of time to check the boats out, and promptly jumped on the Katerina just as it was about to leave.

Once on the boat we were made very welcome and were soon indulging in the 1st Ouzo of the day! The boat is very comfortable, although due to high winds the crossing out was a bit rough to say the least. Saying that, everyone managed to keep their breakfast down and we arrived in at the 1st island, where we enjoyed a mid morning snack by the beach.

Lunch in Kalymnos was great, at a local taverna, with a host as mad as the captain! Had plenty of time to look around, before we headed back on the boat for the sail back to Kos.

Lots of fun on the way back and everyone had a fantastic time, the captain and his wife were the perfect hosts and made everyone feel very special and welcome.

Would recommend this cruise without hesitation and will definately sail on the Katerina on out next visit.

The KATERINA. Wow, 20 Euros for the best day of the holiday, things don't get any better than that! George & his family were brill at generating a fun atmosphere (including Pirate hats & Titanic Moment, don't worry the boat didn't sink). And we met the infamous Tony Ainsworth, who was there helping for the day. Definately recommend for couples & families, who want a great day out!

Carl W

Wow what can i say loved the KATERINA boat trip we went twice. KATERINA KATERINA!!!! remember the name and go on this trip.

Mia G

Have just returned from my second trip (out of 3) to Kos this year.

Once again we were treated to a great day out on POSEIDON. My favourite trip is the picnic to Plati where they cook a barbeque on the rocks. Lovely lunch of souvlaki, salads and bread followed by watermelon (Karpoozi). Slow cruise round to Pserimos where we spent a couple of hours swimming in the crystal clear water on the sandy beach. Even bought some local Pserimos herbs this time around (although they stank the bag out all the way home).

On board the POSEIDON we were looked after by Aleco the Captain, Dimitris and Manoli. All of these guys made us so welcome and even invited us back for drinks in the evening. :)

Don't miss it. If you are going to Kos go on the POSEIDON. Mention the name Sofia and get a 5Euro discount per person!

Emma K

Katerina Boat - Having seen peoples comments about this trip on the website before we went I made a bee line for the Katerina amongst all the other boats and we were certainly not dissapointed, the boat is lovely, its a family run business and they take pride in what they do!! Lots of laughs, dancing and some beautiful scenery. Great value for money and a definate must do!

THE KATERINA SAILING BOAT - KOS TOWN HARBOUR

We visited Kos in June and we went on THE KATERINA as it was paised by Tony Ainsworth,he was right,it was an excellent day out and good value for money.
We first stopped at a small island named Pserimos where there is a very nice beach which the children enjoyed very much. From there we went to Kalymnos where we visited a sponge factory, after which we went for lunch in a local Taverna, and for what we paid the lunch was very good, try the fish it is a meaty fish with hardly any bones.
After half an hour or so after lunch we reboarded the Katerina and stopped at a small island called Platti, where they dropped anchor, and most of us went swimming in the crystal clear waters.
George and his family really do go out of their way to make the day very special. Lots of small surprises including a small raffle at the end followed by some Greek Dancing with George the Captain.
If we go back to Kos it will definitely be on our list of must do's.

Claire R

i went on the 3 island cruise with the boat "odyssey". the driver of the boat tried to be funny to begin and kept makin the boat splash sea water at us but he stopped when he realised noone found it funny. it was 30euros includin lunch which was a kebab and salad. i wasnt to keen on kalymnos or plati but the beach at pserimos was really nice compared to the ones at kos. i'd have prefered less time on the boat and more on the beach

William B

We went on the 3 iusland cruise in june/ July with Theokritos travel. We travelled from mastihari on the mikros cosmos. It was a lovely boat. We visited a sponge factory in kalymnos before going to a little fishing village for lunch. We then went to Plati where we swam off the boat. After that we went to Pserimos and sat on a beach for about an hour. It was fun and relaxing and i would recomend it to anyone.

Kirsten W

yet another 2 satisfied customers from the katerina boat. we were very well looked after and had a fantastic day. it was excellent value for money and really does open your eyes to the remoteness of some of the islands and the way some people live. pserimos was like paradise on earth, and the coast of plati was stunning. i would definatly recomment this boat. however, i would advise against the marco polo, as the crew let us down at the last minute, cancelling the trip for the day.

Helen D

Me and my friend went on the 3 island tour last July and are hopefully going on it again this year. We sailed with the Katerina boat aswell. Although the trip to the first island was very rocky and made us quite sea-sick which we weren't expecting, it was a very well spent day. We danced, drank and swam all day. Visited the sponge factory and even got to do a bit of shopping on the island of Kalymnos. Even though it is a very small island it is fantastic as it is not crowded with holiday makers, just plenty of locals! We even got to dress up as pirates for a while which was entertaining for all age groups on board! Definately worth taking part in! A great day had by all!

THE KATERINA SAILING BOAT - KOS TOWN HARBOUR

I visited Kos once again in May and I went on THE KATERINA three times, it was an excellent day out and very good value for money.
The first stop is Pserimos where there is a very nice beach, then it is off to Kalymnos where you have lunch in a local Taverna and a visit to the sponge factory. Then you reboard the Katerina and she drops anchor at a small island called Platti where you can go swimming off the boat.
George and his family really do make the day very special.
I can't wait for September to come when I shall be going to Kos once again.

Just got back from Kos and had two wonderful days on the "POSEIDON". Did the three island cruise to Pserimos (beautiful beach), Kalymnos (sponges/shell factory) and Plati (swimming/snorkelling) also did the barbeque trip to Plati and Pserimos which includes Souvlaki cooked on a barbeque on the rocks of Pserimos. These days out give excellent value for money and a great way of seeing neighbouring islands whilst getting a lovely tan!

We've been on the POSEIDON or her sister ship ARGO 5 times now. Every time we are treated very well and have made good friends with the Captains and crew.

I'd definitely recommend it!

Emily

we went on the persidon or whatever its called. it was the best day of my life. there was only a couple of other people on it and it was heaven. we went to a sponge factory wich was crap and ended up gettin on the boat 30 mins early coz we were so bored on the island. the first island was gorgeous tho. the clearest blue sea and sky and a old woman sellin herbs. i bought some tea but i think its really sage. well worth it

We went to Kos island and we travel with "KATERINA" boat.
It was an excellent experience!!!!
We left Kos at 10a.m. and in an hour we were at Pserimos. We swam to a beautiful sandy beach, we drank ouzo and danced greek traditional dances. We arrived at Kalymnos after a while, we visited a sponges' factory, we had lunch and we had a look at the town.
Then we went to a smaller island, Plati and we got crazy with the dives from the boat and the rocks. We ate water-melon, we opened the sails and took some photoes. Arriving back to Kos we drank wine and we won a present from a lottery. The last memory was a dance of "Zorbas". All these were included to the ticket price.
We will certainly go next year, again.
We loved this trip!!!

Amanda B

Great day out, we sailed on the `Santa Maria`, 50 euros for the 4 of us for the whole day, 10am till 6pm, including food, soft drink, ouzo, snacks and free photos.
Visited 3 islands, lunch at the first stop was a Greek salad followed by a choice of various local dishes all with rice/chips, we got the chance to try octopus which i must say was very nice, but not something i would normally have ordered.
We had the chance to swim in the sea at the last stop, which the children thoroughly enjoyed,
Sailing back the children got the chance to steer the boat and help raise the sails with the crew.
As we aproached Kos harbour on our return we were given a glass of sparkling wine by the crew to thank us for sailing with them and to toast a great day out.

I can only echo what has been said about the Katerina sailing boat, it was a wonderful day trip, George and his family are lovely people nothing was to much trouble, Myself, Wife and friends would all reccomend this cruise.

Sue V

Please can anyone tell me if this cruise will still be running during the 1st week of October.
I'd love to go on it but my husband is a poor swimmer and will only swim in shallowish water, so when you arrive at the last island to swim .. is the water shallowish?

thanks for the info

The KATERINA took us on a three Island cruise. It departed from KOS TOWN HARBOUR at about 10.00.am and returned at about 6.00.pm. Had a fantastic day sightseeing and sunbathing. I really enjoyed looking up at the sails.

Brian M

I enjoyed my trip on THE KATERINA, we visited PSERIMOS, KALYMNOS & PLATTI. We had a very nice lunch at a Taverna in Kalymnos, the owner Yiannis was a good laugh. The day was very relaxing and as a bonus we saw the dolphins. I am going again this May and the trip on the KATERINA is definitely on the cards as it is too good to miss.

( This tour lasts about 15.minutes ) then it is off to a local taverna for lunch, you get a small greek salad, a main course (Choice of 5 dishes) and a fresh fruit like on Orange or Apple. After luch you get about 1 hour to look around the Port of PORTHIA and then back to the boat and the next stop is PLATTI where the KATERINA drops anchor and you can go snorkeling or swimming. Back on the boat for a refreshing piece of melon. Then it is up with the sails and back to KOS town. If you are very lucky you may even see the Dolphins, about a 10/15% chance.

There is plenty of room to sunbathe on the sunbeds on the boat, and they have a bar which sells drinks at very reasonable prices. It is a GOOD trip and many people go more than once, so do go EARLY in your holiday. Don't forget the Tour Operators DO NOT do this trip, and if you decide to go on other Trips, check out the local price first as the Tour Operators charge a LOT more.

Have fun in KOS - TONY KATERINA.

Treat yourself to a day on the sea, BOAT TRIPS, book at the harbour and try The KATERINA for the three Island cruise, they are a great family and you will have a good day out. If you want to visit Bodrum in Turkey you are best off going on the Boat - M/V THEMISTOKLES which can be found about half way round the harbour opposite the Flamingo Bar.
