Paradise Beach - (Beaches on Kos)

waaaay too busy. try magic beach a bit further out of kefalos. good taverna, plenty of space and great swimming that you don't have to wade out for miles to reach!

Kefalos - (Resorts on Kos)

re andrew. july 04

development is spread throughout kamari bay area but you don't really notice it unless you go up the hill to old kefalos. the harbour area is pretty much as its been for years.

was anyone there when the greeks won the eurocup? we were there for the 1/4 finals and the locals went ape. would have loved to have seen the reaction on the final night..

Therme (hot springs) - (Places to Visit on Kos)

Mike C

visited thermae in october 04 (again!).
the locals have just put some car sized rocks around it to keep the sea swells down. spoils it a bit really, you don't get knocked over into the lovely sulphurous water anymore!

best time to go is after 5pm - tourists go back to get ready for the extensive night lifc(?) and the locals come down so the route down the hill gets a bit like a drag strip.

i looked it up on a pollution index site as well: you might like to know it's the 3rd most naturally polluted place on the planet. full of cadmium and mercury apparently. so i won't be needing to buy any more batteries this year then, just stick a finger in the socket...

see y'all there in 2005 :-))

The Asclepeion - (Places to Visit on Kos)

Mike C

worth a visit if you like your history, or if you're a medico i suppose.

lots of steep steps and it's very open to the sun in peak season so take a hat and some water.

great views across to turkey from the upper levels and you can walk amongst the trees at the back, u might meet the ghost of old hippocrates there, who knows.
