We (family of 4) stayed for 2nd and 3rd weeks in Sept 2006, and had a really good time.
Big problem is the main pool which is a minimum of 2 meters deep, and has very slippery main steps (as is the pool area in general, one of the entertainment staff told me that on average 2 people slip over each week in the high season). However this is a salt water pool, so it is very easy to float without any movement, so it does make it easier if you are not a strong swimmer. There is a smaller pool (aprox 25m x 20m) which is also salt water, but is no more that 1 meter deep.
The hotel itself is clean and well presented. The rooms are a bit spartan, and don’t have much drawer or wardrobe space, but are comfortable enough and we had plenty of room even with four beds. All the staff were very friendly and all spoke excellent English. Reception sorted what problems we did have very efficiently, and the bar staff were always happy to chat and share a joke, and didn’t enforce the 2 drinks per serving rule. We thought the entertainment staff were ok, and most spent time chatting to us, and organised enough activities to keep everyone amused if that’s your thing. Both the kids used the Kids club and were very happy, Restaurant was good but without air con did get hot on some days. The food was good too, with the Tuesday Chinese night being the best, although our youngest, who doesn’t try to many new things, did find it hard to find anything he liked on a few nights (no kids menu available).
Million dollar question, if someone was thinking of going to this Hotel and asked if it was worth it, I’d say yes, just be careful of the pool |
