We have stayed at the Irena Bech for the last 2 years and have booked to go back again next year  -great place for families and the staff are all great (esp Chrissy) - great location as it is right on the beach and a nice walk into Tingaki centre.

Quiet pace of life and totally relaxing.

There is a cashpojnt in Tingaki - right next to the roundabout (square) at the bottom of the main drag.

Anyone want any info on Irena Beach or Tingaki, just let me know and i'll try and oblige.

Andy - We have travelled with MyTravel for the past 2 years (and travelling again with them to Kos again this year) - not had any issues so far - flights on time, food decent enough for an aircraft, etc.

Hope you enjoy Tingaki - if it's a relaxing get away from it all break then you should be fine.

We stay at the Irena Beach Apartments which are about 2 km outside the main street of Tingaki and they are superb (basic but homely and staff are great) - think most of the properties are like that. Don't expect the Ritz and you should be fine.

Cheers

Hi Kim,

We also go to the Irina Beach Apartments and think exactly the same - like a home from home as all the staff are so nice (especially Chrissy -  picture attached :)). We are heading back on 19th July with the kids and have no doubt it will be as friendly and relaxing as always....
Cheers

Thanks Donna - Appreciate the help. We arre staying again at the Irena Beach so it will be a long cycle to pick it up

We ate a couple of times at the Sagittarius last year and thoroughly enjoyed it, especially the curry which I thought was very authentic - I'm sure we will drop in for a meal or a carry out during our fortnight

Thanks again and take care

Frances,

The taxi's from Tingkai to Kos Town are approx 13-15 euros each way - you can get a taxi from the rank at the bottom of the main road in Tingaki (next to the fountain)

Anyone who has been to Tingaki recently let me know how the prices for food/drink compare to last year?

We used to get cocktails for 3 euros at night and paid about 50 euro for a meal for 4 (2 adults/2 kids with wine and juice)

Also, how is the exchnage rate when lifting from cash machines compared to what we get here (approx 1.26 euro to the pound)

Any help appreciated as we are returning to Irina Beach on 16th July.

Cheers

Hi Lynne,

Many thanks for the info - looks like no increase since last year :)

I'll certainly pass on your best wishes to Maria - how's the new barmaid, now that Sula has stopped working there? She was always good for free beer any time i've been...

Cheers

Mary,

We asked the same question as we go in July...and, there is now a laundrette there,so you can get the old clothes scrubbed.

You can buy ciggies at any of the supermarkets - the big supermarket at the top of the main street has a huge selection of ciggies and alcohol :) - one stop shop really....

Hi Gail,

The e-mail address for Irina Beach is vera@otenet.gr - I'm sure thats the address that Maria still uses.

Good luck!

Hi Janice,

When u going .where are u staying?  There are a few supermarkets in Tingaki and the largest and best stocked is at the top of the one and only main street that runs down to the beach :)   There are a few smaller ones on the beachfront going out of Tingaki, so depends where you are and what you want. Our kids will be 15 and 12 and certainly when we were there 3 years ago (going back July this year) it was really cheap to eat out so hopefully it will still be the same (fingers crossed).

If you need anymore info feel free to ask :)

Cheers

No problem Janice - we stayed at the Fili apartments about 6 years ago and they were lovely. Pool with slide for kids and a more secluded deeper pool as well. Food was fine and the staff were great. They are a bit out of town (in fact, just 2 minutes from where we are going again this year, the Irina Beach), however the bus stop into Tingaki is right on your doorstep. I think it's about 1 euro 20 and takes 5 minutes.  To walk will take you anywhere from 20 -40 minutes right along the coast, but dark in places at night. Beach is gorgeous, sandy and safe. Restaurants are all pretty good and whilst I have my favs, everyone is different so I'll let you enjoy and decide :)  Low key nightlife with a couple of bars (maybe disco?) if you fancy a change.  We hired bikes from a place just 5 mins from the apartments on the sea road and this is a great way to get about. Also worth hiring a car as the driving was ok and there are some lovely little areas dotted around the island. Ther can be a bit of a breeze at times but it helps to cool down. If there is anything specific you need/want to know drop me a line and I'll see if I can help. cheers D
