Hi,

My husband and I are going to stay at The Zeus Hotel for two weeks from 20th June 2007 and I was wondering whether anyone could tell me whether it will be possible to hire a fridge for the duration of our stay.  Mike & Sheila - you will probably be able to answer this for me as you seem to have been to the Zeus a few times, and if you are going again this year on 14th June you may still be there when we arrive on 20th.

The past few years we have been to Skiathos and found it really easy to get around on the bus - could you please tell us whether it is easy to get around Kos.

I must say, we are both looking forward to our holiday epecially now that we have read the reviews.

Hi,

have spent 10 days at Zeus in early sept 06, very briefly I would say that hotel in general is not bad, people seems to be friendly and location quite good.
The biggest problem with the hotel, is that guests dont seems to have any respect for others, slamming
of doors during daytime and nighttime is very bad.
If you are looking for a quite and relaxing holiday I would advice to look at other hotels, it was very
annoying and frustrating in september, I dread to imagine what it must be like in july/august.
If you decide to stay here.......... have a nice holiday and the best of luck.

Mike M

Hi just returned from another great holiday in kefalos staying at Zeus hotel again, had a lovely welcome from Zak/Maria and familygreat to see many of our friends who go there regularly, Sheila and mike will be returning next year hope to see you all again

Kim B

A clean, friendly, quiet family owned hotel which is located just far enough away from the bars and tavernas on the main road. Thoroughly enjoyed the stay.

Only two minor gripes - firstly, guests are prone to slamming bedroom doors at all hours. Secondly, It would be nice to see the ball games bannished from the pool - it was a little difficult to relax at times with the constant bombardment of inconsiderate guests playing football !!!!!!!

Silvio S

Hi  Mike,

Thanks very much for your help,

This is my 5th visit to Kos, stayed in Kefalos once in an apt ( cant remember name) once in Kos Town ( not for me) and twice in Kardamena ( Aegean Village hotel, if anyone wants info, pls ask) but always
rented a scooter and spent most of the time in Kefalos.
I dont really care where I stay normally, this time I am a little more carefull and concern as I have a 2 months old baby, so want to be sure it will be ok for him.
Anyway, I might not see you this time as I am back on the 17/09, but who knows next year.... i will surely return to Kefalos again.
Take care and thanks again
Silvio

we and friends have only just returned home from our second year running holidaying at the zeus which we can not fault. a family run business run by a really friendly family who cater for your every whim  whatever that may be.a totally relaxing  hotel set in idyllic surroundings where cleanliness is  a virtue of  every staff member and this is a major pointer for further bookings.
as i said earlier perfectly situated to frequent other bars restaurants & tavernas in the resort of kefalos which caters mainly for the more laid back tourist as locals are so laid back their virtually horizontal, however they still remain friendly and genuinely seem pleased to see you and not just your cash.
i'd certainally recommend the zeus and personally think its the pick of hotel in the resort and look forward to returning very soon.

Mike M

Hi Silvio

Hotel is ok for children ask for room to the rear, the only noise normally is if
    people slam doors.it is very flat in lower kefalos so no problem with push chair;
its about a mile to the harbour, plenty of good eating places + shops on the way
will cost you about 20/25 euros to the resort by taxi.enjoy your holiday.we
arrive there on 21st sept, see you if your still about.
You can see pictures.of hotel on www.hotelzeus.gr

Hello All, nice to see you all there at the Zeus again. As newly initiated guests at Zak & Maria's place, we are continually humbled by their grace and outstanding pleasantness. I know they live in an awsome place, but it astounds me that they are ALWAYS bloody smiling! Beautiful. Anyways, if anyone knows of an apartment to rent on a monthly basis, please yell, will pay good money for the right spot and may consider working for our keep, e.g. renovation works, cleaning, etc. Cheers Andy & Vicki

Elizabeth N

Found Zeus Hotel quite by accident; booked a late deal (5 days before departure) last August.  What a find though!  The hotel was everything I could have possible wanted as a single mum; lovely location in beautiful Kamari Bay, great pool for me to relax by whilst my son (now 7) learnt to swim, clean, comfortable rooms (the air-conditioning was a god-send and very reasonable at 5 Euros/day) and the most welcoming, friendly owners you could wish for.  My son described it as "the best holiday I've ever had" and as we've traveled in Australia and the States that's a real compliment.

We had such a good time that I returned in October 05 and have already booked 1 week from 6th May and a fortnight from 22nd July this year.  Really looking forward to further perfect holidays.

This hotel is a genuine diamond find that I would truely recommend to all....

PS Maria's greek salad from the snack bar is a must, just delicious!

Mike M

just back from 2 fantsatic weeks in kefalos staying at ZEUS HOTEL. lovely to see ZAK/MARIA and family again they are such nice people, some of our friends who have been many times were there ,would also like to say hello to JULIE & DAVID from sheffield hope you enjoyed your selves. roll on JUNE next year can:t wait to return

Vicki H

Just come back from Zeus Hotel, Kefalos - been there for 2 weeks.  After chatting to other guests we were initially very surprised to discover that at least 90% of them had been before and in most cases many times - but after staying there for ourselves its very easy to see why.  I have been on lots of holidays before but never to a resort quite like this one, there literaly is something for everyone, kefalos is stunning with local scenery, convenience stores, souveniers, bars and a couple of clubs, then you have Kardamena just down the road where you could have a wild Clubbing night out.

As for the hotel itself, it was very friendly - Zac, Maria, Manolis, Connie, Andonis and Nick all made sure that we had a fab time - the hotel is very clean, the pool is clean and the sunbeds are abundant enough to ensure there's enough to go around.  The food at the snack bar is nice and I personnally reccomend the strawberry milkshakes!

We enjoyed it so much that we are actually considering moving to Kos

Rita K

Zeus hotel is not that far from manolis where you stayed last year it is on the back road nearly opposite the dolphin bar.The hotel has its own pool and is very clean, the harbour is about a 20 minute walk away as for the kids the beach is  only a 5 minute walk away and they can go snorkling.Have a good holiday.

Jan S

we stayed in the Manolis last year, it was fab but have read about the Zeus. Can someone tell me where the hotel is? Would it be ok for two 18 year old's and two 13 year old's? And one older lady!! How far is it from the harbour? Many thanks.

Wendy F

We stayed in the zeus for a night after a pipe burst in our studio down the road and we weren't keen on it. The staff were friendly and it looked nice, but we found the rooms to be really sterile, my fiance thought he was going to get pierced! Thomsons offered us the choice to upgrade to the zeus or go back to our studio and we went back to where we were, it was quite thankful to leave. Ok if you like bed and breakfast but we didnt like the atmosphere.

Mike M

Dragon lady & S

Just back from yet another holiday at Zeus Hotel, Kefalos. Didn't want to come home. Zak, Maria and all the family are fantastic, they are so helpful and nothing is too much trouble for them, we cannot thank them enough for all the help they gave on our last day. Air conditioning was well worth the money as are the snacks at the pool bar. Hippocrates Restaurant is great, the meals are so big, Yannis is an excellent cook and George and Angelina are the best. The Oasis Supermarket is a must to visit, just tell Bobby we sent you, she is brilliant (ask her about the boat!!). Already looking forward to next May and September.

Martin & esther S

We have just returned from a week at Maria & Zak’s family owned & run hotel. The Hotel is very clean and kept to a high standard. The rooms are simply furnished – ours was a family room with a separate bedroom with double bed, but the standard rooms are twin beds. The whole place has recently undergone a renovation and is freshly painted with new patio doors and screens. The public areas are much more modern than you would expect with cream leather sofas and a swish bar. The breakfast is of the traditional Greek variety – roll, bread, butter jam, orange squash, coffee, but is well done with beautiful fresh bread rolls every morning. Plenty of pool loungers, with mattress & umbrellas, meant there was never a fight to get one. Doors can echo when slammed shut, but this is to be expected when all the halls and rooms have marbled floors – we never found it to be a big issue and it did not disturb either of our 3 & 7 yr old daughters slumber. Hairdryer & iron in room with option for air-con, which was not needed in Sept. Most of all, the place was run with real care and everyone could not have been friendlier. We would recommend the place to anyone.

Zoe & nathan

Just got back after a week and although we had a great time, we wouldn't go back to Kefalos, let alone stay at the Zeus - sorry guys! The only positive things are that the people are really nice, the hotel is in a great location and the pool is very well kept but here come the negatives..... we had no fan and no hairdryer (lucky I took my own), we could write our names in the dust, it was a luxury to have a "luke warm" shower but even then we had to stand as close to the wall as possible as the shower head had a mind of its own, the cleaner may have been decorative with the sheets but it would have been nicer if she'd made our beds when she changed them instead of just making pretty patterns, and to top it off there was a half eaten sweet under one of the bedside tables which remained there for the whole week - and it definately wasn't one of ours!

Martin W

We got back from Kos and Hotel Zeus on 28th Aug after 2 weeks. I already want to go back! The hotel is great. Super bar and lounge area for the evenings. The pool area is a good size and there are plenty of sun beds. Food from the snack bar is good and reasonably priced. Our 2 sons (16 & 14) had a whale of a time around the pool with the other youngsters at the hotel. The rooms are standard Greek basic but are spotlessly clean and the air conditioning is well worth the money. The main road has lots of tavernas and although we thought the best was the four seasons we never had a bad meal anywhere. The hotel is really friendly and Zac, Maria and the family are very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.

Nicola W

Having not known what to expect from the hotel, my partner and I were pleasantly surprised by the high standards all round. The service at the pool side snack bar was efficient and with a smile. Very reasonably priced to. Having a bread roll and jam for breakfast did get a bit boring after a few days but the amount we had eaten the night before meant we didn't really want much. The rooms are basic and its very easy to flood the bathroom while in the shower. The pool is a good size with plenty of sunbeds. However don't take expensive swimwear with you though as the chlorine in the pool can ruin the colour. (They go yellow!) The hotel is in the perfect location only a short distance from the main road but still managing to escape the traffic noise. The supermarket round the corner is ideal and you don't have to go far to find a good restaurant. Overall a fantastic hotel in a quiet part of Kos.

Emma F

Well, we got back from Kefalos yesterday and we are already planning to go back as soon as possible. Hotel Zeus is fantastic - brilliant location, peaceful as you want and relaxing. The location is amazing close enough to the main strip not to feel left out but far enough away to be quiet. The resort itself isn't full of noisy teenagers and pub crawls. After having listened to the bunch of moaners from the airport who stayed in places like Kardamena and Mastihari we definately had the best deal. Every single person was friendly and made you feel really welcome. There is no way now I would stay anywhere else on the island - just take a day trip around the island and you will see what I mean. We were over the moon with our ground floor room - we had our own little patio which caught the sun in the morning and was cool in the evening with the lovely gardens just outside. Pool was clean and not too much chlorine like some, caught the sun all day and with a good balance between sun loungers and shaded tables. They even have a mini-library if you finish your holiday novel too soon!! Love to Zach and Maria and all the family, we will be back ASAP p.s Look out for the watermelons growing just across the road!!

Suzy & dan

Just come back from 2 weeks at Hotel Zeus and we thought it was fantastic! Brilliant, family run hotel, with great atmosphere. Don't know how people can say it was expensive at the snack bar and hotel bar! We spent all day by the pool and ate there every lunch time - great value for money, Maria doesn't know how to make small meals! Plus it's all delicious (particularly the Club Sandwiches! Don't need to eat for 2 days after one!). The hotel bar is the best place to be at night... cocktails are very reasonable, as is the Mythos and everything else! Word of warning though... don't have the Vodka... it robs your mind! CHEER UP ROGER!!! U dont go to Greece for everything to be the same as England!!! Must say that the hot water does tend to run out after 6pm but it's red hot before then! And the fan is fine - don't need the aircon but it's nice to have the option. And the hairdriers are ok too!!! Go and see Bobbi in the Supermarket Oasis, shes a right lass!!!

YAMAS!!!!!!!

Eddie C

we were quite worried before we went 10-7-04 because there were a lot of adverse comments on this site.however we were very pleasantly surprised.zeus is a very nice hotel and provided everything we wanted for a lovely holiday.i must agree with one comment about fridges in rooms.it would have been nice even to pay for one as we had a baby with us,and we could have kept milk and water cold. you have to wonder what some people expect for just over 300 pounds including flights for two weeks holiday.

Mike M

Martin No fridges in the rooms, but the bar stays open until 2am enjoy your holiday

Emma F

My partner Harry and I are leaving for Hotel Zeus on the 31st and I just wanted to see how many other people would be staying there at the same time - always nice to know there will be friendly faces! You can't miss us really I'm 6' and blonde and he is a cheeky tatooed scotsman - see you by the pool - say Hello and we may even buy you a drink! xx Emma

Mike M

Mark you will be two minutes from main road and 10/15 from harbour, there are plenty of bars/restaurants on way.they change cash or trav.cheques at hotel.there is also a cash point outside Kastri car rentals 5mins from hotel.Have a great holiday we always do staying at Zeus

Mark T

we are stopping at zeus for 2 weeks leaving next week. it sounds great. can anybody let me know how far it is from the main strip.. Also, are there any cash machines in kefalos, and do they exchange travellers cheques in the hotel..cheers, MARK..

Jim M

here's the deal. the hotel is very good. rooms are cleaned every day, air conditioning for a small extra charge, 5 Euro per day. we never had a problem with hot water, always available. location excellent. set just 2 minutes off the main road, you get peace and quiet. the pool is clean and cool, with enough loungers and parasol shades. pool side snack bar is great value, 4 Euro for a cheeseburger & fries, and it's tasty too. the place does echo a bit and you can hear doors sometimes banging shut, but not enough to spoil things. very pleasant staff.

the locals are friendly and Kefalos was pretty quiet and peaceful. great weather, nice beaches and a clean blue sea for a swim. local restaurants are excellent and the prices are very cheap. definitely try the Taverna Zephyr, great food, particulary the steaks. sit by the sea in the late evening, enjoy dinner and a few beers.

we spent the week from 03/07/2004 - 10/07/2004, and are already talking about going back.

oh, the airport is a bit small and i wouldn't eat there, take sandwiches or pick something up in town if you're gonna be there a while.

really enjoyed the holiday, Kefalos get's a thumbs up!

Mike M

Just back from kefalos 18th visit, very impressed with the new bar/lounge at Zeus hotel well done Zak and Maria, all rooms now have aircon.we met up with many off our friends who visit the Zeus year after year so can't be that bad can it(Roger Munday)did you really stay there, we find it very good never had any problem with hot water, the staff go our of there way to make your holiday a pleasant one. Will certainly be back next year

Kerry B

FANTASTIC place to stay for our honeymoon. EXTREMELY clean and tidy. Hairdryers and irons available in every room, air conditioning at extra cost. We had hot water for showers some guests said they didn't (so bear in mind it is solar power heated so does run out).
Family who run the hotel are FABULOUS. Make you feel welcome.
Pool and sunbed area is great. Always in the sun and always a bed available. Parasols at most beds and a terrace close by to get in the shade. Pool side bar to get refreshments (everything you need).
Be aware the hotel does echo and some guests do slam their doors but if you've had a good night out you'll sleep anyway NO WORRIES.
Few minutes walk away from main road and beach so away from any external noise (excluding crickets and birds).
Definitely will be back next year. THANKS TO ALL AT HOTEL ZEUS XX

Roger M

Good things: friendly, family run place. Nice pool and it's just a bit out of town so doesn't get too rowdy, not that Kefalos does much.

Bad things: there is *never* any hot water. I really mean, *never* - and it's not even warm... just cold. All the time.

The sound from many rooms away goes through the walls, ceilings, corridors... no matter how quietly someone closes their door, you hear it miles away.

The balconies or patios are not very scenic - looking out onto a concrete road and not much else from where we stayed.

Breakfast is just a roll with butter & jam and coffee/orange squash. The snack bar is expensive, go to the supermarket just down the road.

Some rooms apparently had shower curtains but they don't go all the way down, so they're pointless. Our room did have a double bed and a single, so I think there must be a mix.

Kathryn S

Lovely family run hotel very near beach and local tavernas. Rooms are not very big!! Nice swimming pool and sunbeds. Great snacks at very good prices. Very helpful family who run hotel.

John M

Useful info regarding the Hotel.
The hotel is clean and owners pleasant.
Be aware that breakfast only consists of a bread roll and a drink! if you want anything extra you will have to pay.
No air conditioning only a 3 phase stand up fan.
No double beds only singles.
The doors bang consistently from 7am until 3am the next day.
There is a super market on the corner and drinks from there are less than half price than the hotel.
Don't use the reps day trips as you can get them at least 10 Euro cheaper in the town and will pick you up from the hotel.
Don't be sick on the coaches as there is a 100 Euro fine and will throw you off the coach (I have seen this happen!)

Andy D
